Thank you to all those who helped us clean up the yard of SHARE Vancouver’s women’s housing!  The yard looked great after all our hard work, and SHARE appreciated the extra hands.

CODA Cleanup Volunteers

A huge thank you to all those who participated in our volunteer event on Saturday, August 29. United Way YLS members gave the exterior of the Gresham CODA Recovery Center a much needed fresh coat of paint. Thanks for all your hard work helping improve our community!

Lunch with Leaders

In June, Young Leaders Society (YLS) members had the chance to meet and speak on a personal level with host Michael J. Ferri, Vice President of Operations, UPS, the largest shipping company in the world and one of the most recognizable and admired brands of all time.

Jim Rudd, CEO of Ferguson Wellman Capital Management, (standing, far right) shared his perspectives on business and philanthropy with members of the United Way Young Leaders Society at a recent Lunch with Leaders event. Jim has been a long-time supporter of United Way, leading two of the most successful campaigns in United Way history. Under his leadership, more organizations in the region started community campaigns, and giving to United Way increased significantly.

Larry Miller, President of the Portland Trail Blazers (center, seated) hosted the January 2009 YLS Lunch with Leaders. The event was one of thebest-attended Lunch with Leaders. United Way of the Columbia-Willamette CEO Marc Levy (seated, right of Miller) joined 20 YLS Members and their guests in a suite at the Rose Garden.

Miller shared his career highlights with the group, beginning with his role as President of Jantzen. One of his most important messages was that nobody wins by themselves, but only with a great supporting team!
