United Way's Commitment to Diversity

Diversity and Inclusion

United Way of the Columbia-Willamette subscribes to the United Way Worldwide vision to take diversity and inclusion to the next level and integrate it into the systems, policies, practices, and behaviors of the organization.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion in the broadest sense; creating an environment where everyone feels trusted, supported, listened to, and able to do their personal best.

We refuse to engage in or tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment.

In Employment

United Way of the Columbia-Willamette is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to the principles of diversity and inclusion.

We believe that our staff, volunteers, and board members should reflect the communities we serve, and should promote the principles of diversity and inclusion.

In Our Program Funding

We act fairly and equitably in making all funding decisions, and in other relationships with community partners; neither excluding nor giving unfair advantage to any organization.

We require our grant recipients to adopt a written policy stating that the agency does not discriminate in its staff, board, volunteer committees, or recipients of their services on the basis of a person's race, color, religion, creed, age, gender, gender identity, national origin or ancestry, tribal affiliation, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, political affiliation, mental or physical disability, medical condition or any other considerations under federal, state, or local law.

In Our Community Engagement

We are intentional in our efforts to have our boards, committees, and councils represent the diversity of the communities we serve. We select members for our Board of Directors and volunteer committees with the goal of broadening their diversity.

We mobilize and partner with community groups working to address racism, bias, and discrimination in our region.
