Advocacy

The cycle of poverty isn’t simple. It happens for complex reasons. That means that to end it we need to tackle the root causes of poverty and not just the symptoms.

United Way of the Columbia-Willamette supports and funds organizations whose mission is to advocate for changes in public policies to eliminate barriers to breaking the cycle of childhood poverty. We make investments in organizations whose focus is advocacy.

We’re also working on ways that you—and everyone in your community—can join us to advocate for change. You can take action now on national causes that affect us locally. UWCW plans to offer local opportunities for advocacy in the future. Are you involved in advocacy in our region? Share your ideas with us.
