2013-14 Funding Opportunities

United Way of the Columbia-Willamette (UWCW) is activating our newly released strategic plan by making investments through two grant streams: Community Strengthening and Community Transformation.

Community Strengthening Grants
Community Strengthening

Overview: A three-year investment for up to 30 nonprofit organizations to increase the capacity of organizations that are leading the way and working within their community to eliminate poverty among young people and families.
Award Range:  Estimated $50,000 per year (overall range $30,000 - $60,000)

Application Deadlines:

  • Account Registration: Nov. 12, 2013 (CLOSED)
  • Organizational eligibility qualifications: Dec. 5, 2013 (CLOSED)
  • Letter of Interest: Jan. 28, 2014 (for selected finalists) (CLOSED)

Community Transformation Grants
Community Transformation

Overview: A five-year investment will be awarded to one community collaborative that possesses a strong vision of how it will address childhood poverty in the region and can clearly demonstrate collaborative and community readiness.
Award Range: Estimated $750,000 distributed annually among the collaborative.

Application Deadlines:

  • Intent to Apply Survey: Dec. 20, 2013 (review results) (CLOSED)
  • Letter of Interest: Jan. 30, 2014 (CLOSED)
  • Organizational eligibility qualifications: March 20, 2014 (for selected finalists)

Ongoing Funding Opportunities

Catalyst Fund

Overview: Responsive, one-time investments to increase the efficiency or effectiveness of service networks which support the most underserved populations in our region. Eligible organizations may submit one request per fiscal year.
Award Range & Duration: $1,000 to $20,000, six months from award date
Application Deadline: Ongoing
