United Way newleaders
United Way's newleaders program is a United Way effort to support emerging community leaders through networking, education and leadership development. All this takes place at quarterly events. Past events have included a visit to the Chinese Classical Garden followed by sake tasting at the Zen Gallery, a visit to the Oregon Historical Society and and an introduction to the development plans for The Brewery Blocks.
The goals of United Way newleaders are to
- Build the capacity of emerging leaders to influence positive community change.
- Instill in future leaders a commitment to volunteerism and community service.
- Raise awareness and understanding among aspiring leaders about the importance of individual and corporate philanthropy in the community.
- Provide opportunities for newleaders to meet successful business and civic leaders sharing experiences and exploring ideas.
- Build a stronger, healthier community.
