Special Thanks for an Excellent Campaign

The United Way community campaign continues to demonstrate the unwavering generosity of our neighbors. The campaign increased by 2%, an extraordinary feat given an unprecedented economic environment.
Sure, there were clear signs of uncertainty and worry at workplaces we’ve visited. Day after day, we heard news about worsening economic conditions. Many in our community are facing tough times: people are getting laid off, facing evictions and having a hard time finding work. Yet, despite all the bad news, what was truly inspiring about this campaign was the willingness of so many people to step up and give what they can to help their neighbors. It is times like this that your support of United Way and our community is more important that ever.
Thanks to all the volunteers, campaign coordinators, company representatives, employers, and everyone who helped with the campaign! This was a tough year to do a campaign, no matter the industry. We are so fortunate to work with many wonderful “cheerleaders” who touted the importance of community. With your help, our campaign reached more than 253,000 employees in our four-county region.
Throughout the campaign, we heard that an important reason why people choose to give to United Way is our guarantee that 100% of their gift is invested in community programs. Thanks to the Cornerstone Partner Program for making this possible, by underwriting operating costs for our United Way.
I very much appreciate the experience to serve our community by leading United Way’s Campaign Cabinet. Thank you for your support this past year.
