Early Learning Washington County Hub (ELWC), a partnership between United Way of the Columbia-Willamette and Washington County Health and Human Services, was awarded a $112,000 equity grant from Health Share of Oregon.

The grant will focus on two key impact areas around early learning and family supports. Thanks to the Healthshare equity grant, ELWC will partner with LifeWorks NW and Morrison Child & Family Services to provide bilingual-bicultural support to Preschool Promise providers, staff and family. A portion of the equity grant will also provide immediate assistance, in the form of cash and gift cards, to Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) families who have been financially impacted by the pandemic but do not qualify for unemployment benefits or COVID relief funds.

By helping families meet their basic needs, ELWC hopes to prevent families from falling into homelessness.
