Preschool Promise Begins in September

Friday, Sep. 23, 2016

A child’s chances of succeeding in school are largely determined before they even set foot in one. Through Preschool Promise 1,300 kids across the state will now have access to quality preschool.

United Way co-leads two early learning hubs that received Preschool Promise funds and are helping to open preschool slots for more low-income kids and kids of color right here in our own backyard.

Early Learning Multnomah (ELM) is working with ten preschools – including Faubion Elementary School – to open 192 slots for kids in Multnomah County. Early Learning Washington County is working with nine providers to open 167 preschool slots for kids throughout the county.

W.L. Henry is one of the Preschool Promise sites in Washington County. Adelante Mujeres runs the site in partnership with the Hillsboro School District, and offers both preschool and adult education programming. This unique combination allows mothers to be in school, studying while their children attend preschool in the same building.
