Librarian for a Day

Ledding Library is welcoming volunteers into their space to help keep things organized for the community!

Volunteers will work together to dust the shelves, put all items in alphabetical or numerical order (we call it shelfreading) and look for any damaged items that need to be taken off the shelves.

Volunteers should wear comfortable clothes as they will be bending, sitting and possibly light lifting. Clothing may get a little dusty.

Feeding The Dream - West Linn

For the first time ever, from 2010-2011, the Oregon Food Bank statewide network distributed more than 1 million emergency food boxes. Considering the enormity of the need, we are taking an intergenerational approach to gathering food contributions for neighbors in need. Local high school students are partnering with and challenging local senior community centers to a food drive. This is a friendly competition! 

Volunteers will assist with the food drive, greeting donors, accepting donations, and sorting food.

For the first time ever, from 2010-2011, the Oregon Food Bank statewide network distributed more than 1 million emergency food boxes. Meet Your Watershed: Fairview Creek Planting Party

Have you met Fairview Creek? It’s one of few surface streams in the watershed, and quite a beauty. The Columbia Slough Watershed Council will be hosting a down and dirty planting party along 3 acres of the creek. Dig in, or sit back and follow the flow of Fairview Creek. Both will point you toward some intriguing information about our local waterways.

Stock The Pantry: Feed Seniors' Pets

It’s a fact: Many seniors who receive home-delivered meals give up their food to feed their cats and dogs.

That’s why FIDO started AniMeals. This is a partnership with Clackamas County Social Services and Senior Meals programs to provide nutritious pet food for the cats and dogs of people who receive home-delivered meals. Every other week AniMeals serves 222 cats and 101 dogs by delivering 888 lbs. of cat food and 606 lbs. of dog food to local senior centers There are over 162 seniors currently signed up to receive pet food along with their senior meals.

Volunteers will work in the small AniMeals warehouse doing some combination of the following activities: reorganizing shelves, pulling outdated food, restocking, sorting, cleaning, or packaging food. Please be flexible as we put you to work on whatever our need is at the time!

Love Letters For Family Caregivers

Join us as to make love letters for family caregivers who devote their lives, energy, and compassion to the dedicated care of loved ones with special needs, terminal illnesses, or other disabilities, often with little or no support or recognition. The 'love letters" we craft with the skilled guidance of a professional papercraft instructor, will be to family caregivers and other devoted volunteers for Valentine's Day. 

To create our love letters, we will be using numerous papercrafting tools: rubber stamps, ink, paper, trimmers, scissors, adhesives, etc., but no prior experience is required to participate.
