Video Transcript: Glenn and his daughters, recipients of United Way support

I'm a father of three, the twins are five years old now. I lost my job, so I end up losing my place, we ended up staying at a shelter downtown Vancouver for a while.

It wasn't just like I was sitting around every day with something for my children you know. And for me to get out this situation. On 10 toes every day, I had to do what I had to do but, I love them you know? I just love them and it's kind of hard to put in words.

During the summer I had got a job, the job I'm at now, I called the Council for the Homeless that's when I called them, they called me and told me we found a place and I just started crying because I was just so happy to have this place.

I remember when I got the keys. The day I got the keys, so I told the twins... and the look on their face was just like; I'm like: we got a place now and like, it was… coming here was just, I was just happy.

I remember the day I moved in here, I was just so excited to have my own place, trying to get better being a single parent. I feel like me having a job, is the best thing, having a roof; just being stable being safe.

Walking up the street like “Dad I love you”, is just like when they tell me that, they really mean it and it makes me feel so good because they know, you know? I'm trying, I'm fighting every day and do whatever I have to, for them.
