The majority of these funds are leveraged to support kids and families by providing access to crisis services, including rent and utilities assistance, access to food pantries as well as tax preparation services so families can receive Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). 353 families received direct assistance for rent and utilities services.

This spring, UWCW was able to expand our Safety Net program to allocate $225,000 in additional funding directly to our culturally-specific and culturally-responsive partners to support families being hit the hardest by the economic impacts of COVID-19. Recognizing the disproportionate impact of the pandemic on communities of color and low-income communities, UWCW prioritized working with organizations on the ground to reach the kids and families most at risk.
