My name is John Herrera, Director of Immigration Legal Services program at Catholic Charities of Oregon.
Last summer, when our communities were impacted by the wildfires in Oregon, here at Catholic Charities, we were able to help migrants who have lost everything in the wildfires in western Oregon.
Many of those affected were Latinos, and in many cases, due to losing critical documents, they couldn’t request help from the government.
However, thanks to our partnership with United Way, and the flexible funding that we received, we provided help and support to many survivors from the wildfires, that have lost everything. Our support inlcuded legal services, clothing, and fresh food, among other assistance.
The partnership between Catholic Charities and United Way is crucial to respond to Oregon’s ongoing climate and distaster crisis, but we cannot do it without you.
