Give Through Your Donor-Advised Fund

You've already set aside money for good. Now you can direct it where it will make the biggest difference.

Your donor-advised fund (DAF) is a powerful way to support our community. When you recommend a grant to United Way of the Columbia-Willamette, you help create lasting change for individuals and families across our four-county region.

Your gift supports critical work in early learning, housing stability, and community resilience. It helps families stay in their homes, gives young children a strong start, and helps neighbors recover when crisis hits. Whether you're responding to an urgent need or investing in long-term solutions, your DAF grant helps build a stronger, more resilient community for everyone.

Why Give Through Your DAF to United Way?

Your impact stays local. Every grant you recommend supports people and partners right here in the Portland-Vancouver region.

Your dollars go further together. We bring together nonprofits, businesses, public agencies, and community members to tackle problems no single organization can solve alone.

Your gift reaches families who are working hard but still falling behind. Many of our neighbors are ALICE households (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed). They earn above the poverty line but still can't cover the basic cost of living. Your support helps them find stability.

It's simple. Most DAF grants take just a few minutes to recommend online, and you've already received your tax benefit.

Frequently Asked Questions

IRS rules generally prohibit using DAF grants to satisfy a legally binding personal pledge. Please talk with your DAF sponsor or tax advisor, and contact us if you have questions about your giving.

Will I receive a tax receipt?
Your tax benefit came when you contributed to your DAF, so your sponsor provides that receipt. We'll send a thank-you acknowledging your grant.

Can I set up recurring grants?
Yes. Many DAF sponsors allow you to schedule recurring grants, which provide steady support that helps us plan for the year ahead.

Can I recommend a grant to support a specific program?
Yes. Include your preferred program in the grant's purpose or notes field and let by sending an email to donations@unitedway-pdx.org
