Serving Our Community: Looking Back on Washington County Volunteer Projects

Friday, Apr. 19, 2019

With over 250 volunteer opportunities this year alone, Washington County is playing a major role in serving our community through dedicated volunteer work.

Facilitating projects in Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tualatin and more, Hands on Greater Portland, a volunteer program of United Way, continues to offer volunteers the chance to invest in our region’s kids and families through compelling projects that interest even the youngest volunteers. And the work of these dedicated community members has shown through.

In the time that Washington County has made its way onto the Hands On Greater Portland project calendar since 2007:

  • 18,532 volunteers have served our community

  • 340,000 volunteer hours have been clocked

  • $8.5 million in service value has been put back into our region

Take a look at past projects, from cleaning up library books to cooking for people experiencing houselessness, that have made a lasting impact in the lives of kids and families in Washington County. In celebration of #NationalVolunteerMonth in April, we honor our volunteers and thank thank them for their dedication.
