Financial Security

We believe a safe, stable home is the foundation for everything - health, education, and financial security. That’s why our housing initiatives focus on keeping people in their homes through eviction prevention and rental assistance, while also supporting a holistic vision of what makes a household stable. When housing is secure, our entire community thrives.

"Housing stability means having at least a shelter over the head and don't need to be worried and can stay with your family and stay safe, alive and not having to life the street. Being warm and comfortable and stable, and good shelter." - Said, recipient of our Swindell's Fund

We focus on building individual resiliency through caring, holistic support. Our Eviction Legal Defense program has helped over 3,400 families stay housed, keeping an eviction from destabilizing these neighbors and pushing them further from maintaining independence, dignity, and resilience. On top of this, we deployed the Swindell's Housing Fund starting in August 2023 to respond to an "Eviction Avalanche" across our region. We found that with an average of $2,100, we could keep families and individuals stably housed, avoiding evictions and ensuring they avoid the trauma of homelessness.

In 2025, that fund transformed into our Resilient Families Fund, embodying the agility and flexibility that we learned worked. Through this new Resilient Families Fund, we can rapidly respond to growing needs in our community through rental assistance, utility assistance, eviction prevention, and other ways.
