A safe, stable home is the foundation for health and opportunity. In 2025, United Way of the Columbia-Willamette strengthened housing stability through Eviction Legal Defense (ELD) and Health-Related Social Needs (HRSN), helping thousands of neighbors avoid displacement and remain securely housed.
Our HRSN program completed its first full year by providing rent and utility assistance paired with case management to nearly 400 members and their families. Through a regional partnership with CareOregon and 23 service providers, more than 2,500 households received coordinated support - entering the new year with greater stability and reduced risk of homelessness.

Our ELD collaboration continued to be a critical safeguard for renters, preventing eviction for more than 4,000 households since 2022. Legal defense and financial assistance preserved housing, kept children in their schools, and protected families from the long-term impacts of displacement. This work is critical in building stability, trust, and sustainability in the communities we serve.
We opened a new fund to sustain these efforts in 2025: The Resilient Families Fund. This fund helps us amplify this work by delivering rapid, flexible aid to families in need. Over 200 households received support in 2025, closing urgent funding gaps and preventing crises before they escalated. Together, these efforts demonstrate how timely support and strong partnerships translate directly into lasting housing stability for our community.
“I wanted to take a moment to share my deepest gratitude for the support I received in this eviction case. This outcome is not just a legal victory but a testament to the power of community justice and the dedication of individuals who care about the well-being of others. The funding I received helped me navigate a difficult time when I felt overwhelmed and uncertain—without you, may have faced an entirely different outcome, and for that I will always be grateful. “ - Anonymous recipient of our Housing Stability Work.
The need continues to grow in our community. We plan to expand our Housing Stability work into Central Oregon in 2026, bringing critical support to our United Way of Central Oregon community. Our continued efforts require your support, so join us in ensuring our community can remain stable and grow in 2026!
